RM of Moose Range’s story
The Rural Municipality of Moose Range No. 486 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 11, 1916. Its office is in the town of Carrot River, which the RM surrounds, along with the resort village of Tobin Lake.
Several small communities and localities lie within its boundaries, among them Battle Heights, Blue Jay, Petaigan, Pruden's Point, Ravendale and Smoky Burn.
Today the area is known for its outdoor places. D. Gerbrandt Recreation Site, once called Squaw Rapids Provincial Recreation Site, sits on the southern shore of the Saskatchewan River at the foot of the E.B. Campbell Hydroelectric Station, with camping, river access and a lodge offering cabins, boat rentals and hunting and fishing guides. Pasquia Provincial Forest covers most of the Pasquia Hills, and Pasquia Regional Park runs along the Carrot River.
